I am Dr. Vilas Naik,DM (KEMH 2006) Fellowship in nephrology, Toronto. I am practising in Kolhapur, MH. Contesting for “VICE PRESIDENT” ISN. I came from Toronto in 2009 to Kolhapur, a third tier city. Most did not know the difference a between urologist and nephrologist.
I started with 3 station HD unit and a 7 bed IPD in a rented place, as no institution felt the need of nephrologist. Now, I am a director of a 107 bed SUPERSPECIALITY Hospital, which has completed 120 kidney transplants. This included convincing ourselves that transplant can be done in our small city, and then starting from a scratch. Stalwarts speak of career building on ISN platforms, academics & research is discussed. A newly passed nephrologist is paid peanuts at the age of 32 or 33 y, less than a resident ?
THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE. I understand the challenges faced by young nephrologists. Please support my vision for a better future in nephrology. Please VOTE- it’s online.
I shall bring a fresh outlook, and energy into the role
